  1. My favorite subject if maths
  2. I like it because I like to challenge myself and I am also very good at it.

Day 10 Activity 1

  1. I would rather go to school in Germany.
  2. Why????...the school days are shorter than in New Zealand! The school day in NZ is 6 hours long, whereas were in Germany the school days are only 5 hours long; however they have ALOT more homework and FAR less holidays!

Day 9 Bonus Activity

I used my Dad;
  1. Paul Edward
  2. Abingdon, Oxfordshire
  3. 1 Brother: Neil (younger)
  4. Rugby
  5. San Francisco because of the look/history of it or Las Vegas just because "...it's Vegas baby!..."

I also used my Mum;
  1. Heather Louise  (nee Heyburn)
  2. Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England.
  3. 2 Brothers: Mark (younger) and Simon (older)
  4. Space
  5. Canada or Tahiti or Whitianga; somewhere I can switch off and kick back with no cares or worries

Day 9 Activity 2

If I had 18 brothers and sister, I think that it would be quite hectic (hey with 1 brother it can get quite crazy sometimes), but then at times it could be fun. I mean you could have a great game of tag! Even though it could be fun it could sometimes be hard to impress the parents as there are so many of them.

Day 9 Activity 1

My family consists of 4 people, 2 cats and 3 fish here in New Zealand and I have my extended family (Grandma, Grandad and Uncle Mark etc etc.) in the UK.

My Dad is Paul who used to play an array of sports for his school, county and town back in England...he then joined the army before working for the Home Office. He is a rugby coach and referee, and also a scout leader (Moa / Bagera). He want to go to San Francisco for his next "big milestone" birthday.

My Mum is Heather who is a fully qualified "drama-queen" and an Assistant Principal who has a two degrees; she is the clever one!
Mum likes the theatre, netball and coffee...but mainly coffee!

My brother is Lewis who LOVES pugs!!!! He also never gets dizzy no matter how many times you spin him around, has a HUGE amount of Lego and is named after the author/theologian C S Lewis famous for writing The Chronicles of Narnia.

I also have two cats, Worcester and Jeeves and three fish.

Day 7 Bonus Activity

I don't think that breakfast is the most important meal of the day because I have skipped breakfast on more than one occasion and even though I have been somewhat hungry I have never lost energy...also, most days my Mum goes without breakfast and she is fine; well so long as she's had a coffee or three!

Day 7 Activity 2

Kiwi Fruit, L&P Chocolate, Hokey Pokey Chocolate, Baby Fish, Kiwi Party Mix, Pineapple Chunks...

Day 7 Activity 1

  1. Kiwiana; toast with jam or (USA) cookie butter.
  2. Malaysia; nasi lemak (rice, vegetables and meat)

    • United Arab Emirates – Chebab (Wrap)        ...I chose it because it looks tasty and filling with lots of different ingredients.
    • England – Full English Fry-Up                      ....I chose it because it is connected to my English heritage roots and who doesn't like a fried breakfast to get the day off to an EXCELLENT start; especially with black pudding!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Day 5 Bonus Activity

The spaceship was out of control and only one person could save them all...but that one person was already dead! He had died when the out of control spaceship had earlier collided with a meteor that was heading right for earth. The only way that the remaining crew could survive was to bail out of the ship and go to the 2 man pod; the only problem was that there were 6 of them left and only 2 spaces in the pod. The agreement prior to the mission was that the "Dad's" had first priority.  Luckily for the crew there was only 1 Dad...Derek, he was guaranteed that he would get back to his family.

There were 5 other crew members left and they were all single men so the only way to choose who was getting the other slot in the escape pod would be chosen by the most grueling way to choose; the painful, torturous game of Tic Tac Toe. The way the tournament would work would be that there would be a row of papers with the Tic Tac Toe grid set up on it already. At random the order would be chosen...after the draw Johhny starting off facing Matthew, whoever won that round would go on to face Mike and whoever won that round would face Peter, and finally after Peter there would be Joshua...the overall winner would get to go in to the pod.

The Rounds started off with Johnny beating Matthew to go on and face Mike.  Unfortunately Mike lost to Johnny, so Johnny versed Peter and surprisingly won.  There was only one other person left and that man was Joshua. Everyone was sure that Johnny would win, it came down to the last square and given the distraction of the tension of the game Johhny had accidentally placed his cross in the wrong place. Joshua had earnt himself the last place on the pod.

Derek and Joshua left in the pod heading safely back to Earth and when they looked back they could see that the space ship was heading right towards Earth now back under what appeared to be control. The two were really relieved that their friends weren't going to die...but what had happened and where were they goin to land?

Day 5 Activity 2

Matilda

I chose "Matlida" by Rohl Dahl because initially it begins by mirroring what happens in the world today, in some counties, whereby adults think that just because they are bigger/older/wiser than children, they can ultimate control over them.

However, in my opinion, children have a lot more will-power, determination and perseverance than adults and generally they don't give up as easily as some grown-ups when it come to reaching their aspirations.

Day 5 Activity 1

To Curious Kiwi...

I would recommend Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Old School, By Jeff Kinney. It is about a boy called Greg Heffley who is all into video games and the technology that surrounds us today. So when he goes on camp with no wi-fi, no video games, and no technology he really struggles!  The story makes you question whether he will he make it to the end of camp without his normal support structure of technology and the modern world...the only way to find out is by reading the book.

Day 3 Activity 2

My airline is simply called "Harrison" and it is rated 5 stars (*****) by the only person who knows how to rate an airline...
the world famous Harrison M Collins; aka me!

It will only be for domestic North Island flights in New Zealand and if the flight duration is not under 40 mins in total (from take-off to landing), then there will be a 5% discount on the total cost.

Day 3 Activity 1

  1. Have your seat belt clipped together at all times taht you are seated and know how to unclip it in a emergency occurance.
  2. Know how to put on your Life Jacket (secured normally under your seat) and also apply the Oxygen Mask (should it be required and therefore drop down from the overhead compartment.
  3. Know where you closest emergency exit is located and the most direct route to it.

Day 2 Bonus Activity

I have been to Wellington with my family, and some friends from England when they visited earlier this year. We tiki-toured all over the place having driven down from Auckland staying overnight at Palmerston North stopping at the Rugby museum.

My two favourite places that we visited whilst in Wellington were the "Beehive" (which is where the Prime Minister and alot other other MP's have their meetings and discuss national matters of interest)

FYI...whilst we were in the "Beehive" we got to go into the room which John Key was once asked to leave when he didn't stop shouting at an opposing member of committee as he disagreed with the points being made...

and Cuba Street which is famous for having lots of good alternative food shops and restaurants.

The place that we all stopped at was Ekim Burger where they have massive burgers overloaded with alternative and different fillings which are cooked in an array of styles depending  on the seasoning and flavour for each one.  The milkshakes were quite good too!!

Day 2 Activity 2

I think bullfighting should not be banned because it is an important part of the Spanish culture and heritage. It has traditionally been around for hundreds of years and to forgo such a tradition is ridiculous in my opinion...

The trained matadores who represent their families (and in some instances the family-honour) participate to promote the hispanic ethos willingly.  They know there is a high risk of injury occurring and possibly death when fighting an angry bull, but they wish to uphold their culture in this way.

Therefore, I do not think that bullfighting should be banned. I do however think that there should be more safety precautions incorporated into the "fight" between the bull and the matador for all participants, and an assessment of pre and post fight status' analysed for future reference.

Day 2 Activity 1

  1. The name of the capital city is...Kuala Lumpur
  2. The population of the capital city is...1.589 million
  3. In January, the weather in the capital city is usually between 22 degrees to 32 degrees.
  4. The capital city is located in the middle of the country.
  5. The languages most commonly spoken in the capital city are Malay and English.

Day 1 Bonus Activity

Dear Grandma

I have decided to got to Malaysia for a month because I would like to learn more about how the Malaysian people sustain their lifestyle.

Even though I have been there before I really only learnt about the national food and some of the cultural traditions.

I have heard that there are some very interesting people and places in Malaysia, e.g.
  • Kuala Lumpur is the biggest city and also the nations capital city,
  • Since 2009 Najib Raxak has been the Prime Minister,
  • Legoland opened in 2012.

I would like you to come with me as I believe that you would really enjoy it...especially as it's much warmer than England at the minute!

Lots of love,
Harrison

Day 1 Activity 2

  • Malaysia's biggest city is also the capital; Kuala Lumpur.

  • The world biggest discovered cave is called Sarawak Chamber, in the Gunung Mulu National Park.

  • Malaysia is made up of two lands...The Peninsular Malaysia and Malaysian Borneo, they are separated by the South China Sea.

Day 1 Activity 1

Malaysia

I chose Malaysia as my country because of the many cultures, friendly people, mouth-watering cuisine, array of business', differing holiday options, historic and modern traditions and the complex religions that make Malaysia the country it is today.

The other reason why I chose Malaysia was because I have been there on holiday with my family and I really enjoyed the whole experience, but as a family we really only scraped the surface when learning about the "tourism" facts and diversity of the country.

The haunted house on 13 Grim Street

The haunted house on 13 Grim Street

One spooky night Casper thought it would be a good idea to go and explore the abandoned, run down, old, 90s shack in the middle of the night.
“That house hasn't been open in decades” said his best friend Hades cowardly
“I know that is why you  are coming with!” replied Casper excitedly
“No I am not!” Said Hades
“Yes you are” replied Capser.
Hades realized that he wasn’t going to win this argument
“Alrighty then, I’ll go with you but if I die it is one you!” Said Hades cowardly
“We’ll set out tonight, meet at my place at eleven o’clock tonight”
“Okay see you then” replied then drove away to his house in a cemetery.

While he waited hades read up about legends of 13 grim street. He read about ghost, demons and the foulest monster in the DRACULA. The legend is that whoever enters either becomes DRACULA'S henchmen and are never seen again or you get turned in stone! When the clock struck 11 o’clock at the dot Caper appeared from his car with a big backpack on his back and in it was a bottle of garlic, 5 flashlights, matches, loads of water and lots of cheese and crackers.
“We’re ready to go, we’ll take my car.” Casper said definitely as if he was worried that if he let Hercules drive they would never get there because he would take a de-tour out of town for the whole night!
“Okay” replied hercules as if he was expecting  to drive out of  town for the night. They left the house  on their way to 13 Grim street.

As soon as he saw the house Hercules regretted the decision to come one this adventure. When they pulled up in the garden and looked into the window they could both see a cowering figure hiding in the window what it a ghost or a demon or maybe it was even  DRACULA who knows? They got out of the car and stepped on to the uneven  gravel path, climbed up the creaky steps and knocked on the door

‘KNOCK!’ ‘KNOCK!’ ‘KNOCK!’ No one answered but the door swung open they decided to have a look around first they looked in the kitchen, dining room and lounge there was no one there but qa kettle was boiling, there was hot food on the table and TV was showing the All Blacks vs Australia 2015 Rugby World  Cup final replay. Then there was a noise coming from upstairs and some on started to come down the stairs was it DRACULA, was it a ghost, was it a demon. No it was just an old man yelling at the men and waving his cane in the air.
GET OUT OF MY HOUSE, NOW!!!!” The old man screamed. The two men looked at each over that started running out of the house the looked at the address of the house. They both realised straight away that the had come to 13 Sly Avenue not 13 Grim Street.

The two men drove home as fast a possible and never went near anyone's house again.
