Summer Learning Journey Day 4 Bonus Activity

In this activity, I had to rank three Maori songs/waiata with 1 being the best and 3 being the worst...

1. Te Puku o Te Ika
The reason why I liked this song was that of the lyrics and choreography that was on display. It was really good and also really we rehearsed.

2.Tamatea Arikinui
The main reason why I liked this song was the use of poi in the dance. Along with the sound of the vocals and also the lyrics.

3. Te Iti Kahurangi
The reason that this song is third is not that it was terrible. It is here because it just didn't appeal to me in the way that I would like it.

Summer Learning Journey Day 4 Activity 2

In this activity, I had to pick a traditional Maori game and describe the rules and purpose of the game...

  1. Koruru Taonga/Knucklebones
  2. To try and catch as many stones as possible
  3. Rules

  • Overhand ones, twos, threes, fours—First "jockey" then eliminate all you have caught except one. Throw this one up and whilst it is in the air quickly pick one (two, three, or four) up off the ground, and then catch the one you threw up. Repeat with remaining knucklebones. You are able to sweep the knucklebones prior to picking them up.
  • Scatter ones, twos, threes, fours—Scatter all five, select and pick up one, throw it up and without "sweeping" proceed as above.

Summer Learning Journey Day 4 Activity 1

In this activity I had to find a maori waiata that I liked and say why I liked it so much...

What I really liked about this song was the way that they sang it. I also loved how they said the words so clearly. Although I don't understand what they are saying I still really loved it.

  • Long lie in's

My Dad answered with...
  • Endless days on the beach
  • Gardening

My cat answered with...
  • Sleep
  • Sunbathe

Summer Learning Journey Day 3 Activity 2

In this activity I had to write my pepeha...

Ko Worcester, England ahau
Ko Heather rāua ko Paul ōku mātua
Ko Harrison tōku ingoa.

I don't know how to answer the other ones so I just removed them.

Summer Learning Journey Day 3 Activity 1

In this activity, I had to imagine myself in a family with 8 other siblings and give my reaction to that...

I would hate living in a family with 9 children. I live with one brother and that's enough for me. I just feel like if I was to live in such a big family then I might maybe be forgotten. Luckily I'll never find out The only upside to living in such a big family would be the fact that I wouldn't have to do so many jobs and chores as there would be more kids to share the jobs around with.

Summer Learning Journey Day 2 Bonus Activity

In this activity I had to decide what my favrioute food would is and why I chose that food...

Image result for toad in the hole
My favorite food/meal is Toad in the hole. It is an English dish that is very well known in the UK. The dish itself is basically Yorkshire pudding batter cooked with sausages in it. The main reason why I like it is the texture of the Yorkshire pudding batter in the middle and it is kind of gooey it goes perfectly with the sausages. I usually serve mine with vegetables and a nice dousing of gravy. Just writing about it makes me hungry...
